Project Introduction

Throughout the semester in Dr. Vrooman’s Social Media and Society class, we have discussed a variety of topics related to our phones and social media. Therefore, I wanted to take what we have learned and apply it to some real-life examples.  

Thanks to the senior thesis class, I have recently been researching why the mental health of college athletes is suffering. After being involved in both the research of athletes and mental health, as well as the discussion of how social media plays a vital role in our lives, I have come across an account that advocates for student-athletes and mental health. 

So, for my project, I want to analyze the Instagram account TheHiddenOpponent, and see how people respond to the posts. I mainly want to look at the posts and then analyze the comments to see if people are responding positively or negatively to these posts.
